About the Festival

The idea of the festival was floated in 2018, with the aim of exploring and presenting the vast repertoire of glorious music from Medieval to early Baroque. A group of local early music practitioners, working on a voluntary and non-profit basis, organised the first festival in May 2019. It was a resounding success; the enthusiasm of our audiences and workshop participants far exceeded our expectations.

The Festival is now registered as Charity No. 1187125, and we hope that it will become a regular feature of Bristol's cultural life. We particularly welcome students and young people, and we value our connection with the University of Bristol Music Department.

We would like to record our gratitude to All Saints for the use of their premises and facilities for the Festival weekend, and the support they have given us; it has contributed a great deal to the success of the Festival.
